2010 MBGC PeeWee Football Information
Welcome Parents.
There are three (3) leagues:
- An exclusive 7 yr. old (Flag) league
- A 5/6 yr. old (Flag) league
- A 6/7 yr. old (Tackle) Peewee league (Maximum 70lb. weight limit).
Ages:
- 5/6 yr. old league:
- must be 5 yrs. old by July 31st, cannot turn 7 yrs. old before December 31st.
- 7 yr. old leagues:
- Cannot be 8 yrs. old before December 31st in the current year.
Football “Clinic” practices for Pee Wee Tackel& Flag will begin July 26, 2010 at Sasscer Field, 14201 School Lane in Upper Marlboro from 6:30pm to 8:00pm Monday –Thursday. The Clinic will last for approximately 2 weeks. Please ensure that “all” players and “parents” attend the first day of the clinic. Players must also try to attend as many clinic days as possible during the evaluation process.
The Players will be evaluated in the following areas: Behavior, Athleticism, Attitude, Attendance. The teams will be selected during a coaches draft process at the conclusion of the Clinic. Every attempt to structure the teams so that they are all competitive will be made.
The program instructional key Philosophy points are: Sportsmanship, Teamwork, Fundamentals, Attendance, and Parent Participation.
Peewee Football League : Sanctioned by Prince Georges County Boys and Girls Clubs since 2001.
Pee Wee game rules are identical to the Tackle Football National Federation rules used by Prince Georges Boys and Girls Clubs. Only difference in Flag is that players pull flags rather than tackle.
Walk-up registration dates can be found on www.mbgc.org. Please register as soon as possible. Uniform cost of $65 is not included in registration fees. White/Clear mouthpieces cannot be worn. Mouthpieces will be made available for purchase.
During practice and games:
- ONLY COACHES AND PLAYERS WILL BE ON THE FIELDS.
- ABSOLUTELY “NO” PARENTS ON THE FIELDS. (If you are interested in coaching please contact Mr. Bossett - jkbrece7@aol.com)
- Players are not to interact with parents during practices/Games.
- Each Team will have a central location for parents to place water bottles for their children.
- Players will take their water breaks, when instructed to by the coaches.
- Season games will begin early September.
- Most game times are between 9am and 4pm on Saturdays.
- Regular season practices will take place twice a week, at a minimum, for 1 hour, once all teams are selected.
- Please be on time for practices and games.
- All funds generated from mouth pieces/parent apparel ordered, will be incorporated to support the program.
Inclement Weather Pol icy: Practices and games are ONLY canceled in the event of lightening. The County Inclement Weather line will dictate whether activities will take place each day (301-927-0822).
The county is responsible for the game schedules. Once they are forwarded to the commissioners (normally, during the week prior to the first game), they will be forwarded to each coach/team coordinator immediately.
Parents: We are going to need volunteers/coordinators for the following positions, please choose at least one area to assist in during the season: Team Coordinator - Concession Stand - Fundraiser - Tournament - Banquet - Homecoming.
- “ALL” families will be required to participate in a fundraiser effort during the season.
- Pictures will be taken in September (Normally on the first game day weekend).
- Please solicit your businesses and friends for support to make this a successful season. (Food vendors, recreational equipment, sponsorships, banquet halls, caterers, decorators, etc.) Contact Ms. Annie Willis concerning these matters.
